The Teresa Navarrete Education Fund (“TNEF”). This annual grant is awarded in honor of a former TRENZA Alumna, Teresa Navarrete, who believed that increasing educational opportunities for disadvantaged students would impact their lives and simultaneously benefit society at-large. TRENZA awards a minimum of $500 annually to a recipient of Chicano/Latino descent or an organization serving the Chicano/Latino community who/that is focused on improving the educational system by means of serving minority students. The recipient will use the awarded funds either for a specific project or for general support of the organization, as described in his/her/their application. The Board of Directors delegated the responsibilities to plan and execute TNEF to the TNEF Committee, which consists of TRENZA Alumni who have volunteered their time to execute the purpose of TNEF.
